Repeat

This is the first time in the story where the connection is made between Jean and Stephanie. It is about how it doesn't matter where you are in the world, the role you play is important. It also introduces the first page of the book, and illustrates how mundane and repetitive the main character finds her life. As if her life was set to Repeat!

Soccer Moms

Soccer Mom-

In the story Me and Jean, the main character is torn by being a soccer mom.  

Here is a little something from the book:

I don’t like the term “soccer mom” it is less of a term and more of an unwanted brand, people give stay-at-home moms to make them feel worse about their lives. None of my friends want to be called a “soccer moms”, I specifically got rid of my minivan to avoid the label. Standing up for soccer moms everywhere I would like to say it is a lot of work. What the outside childless judgers don’t realize is soccer momming could be a full time job. First there is the gear, then the snacks, then the fold out chairs, the other moms gossip (it is high school all over again, and I am the weird off beat art kid no one likes to sit next to at games), the meetings the tournaments, it could really take half your day if you let it. I refuse to let it. Soccer you will not win, you will not beat me.

Current Project-

I am working on creating a book! It is an exciting project. I am excited about it more art to come but to say the least it is HUGE! Little Synopsis-

This fall a box was delivered to me, at the High School Art Room I teach in, it contained over 1000 beautiful hand developed photos from all over the world.  I have no idea where it came from or why it was given to me, but I know I have to do something with it.  It is a true mystery.

I have started a book of Short Stories inspired by the photographs.  In the story a bored art teacher, uninspired by the world around her and defiantly stuck in a rut discovers a "magic" box that transports her to different parts of her life.  Each time she sees a photo she is inspired to paint and write.  The story.... Working title Me and Jean, will be fully illustrated.  I am inspired by the work of Nick Bantock and Karen O'Brien.  The illustrated mixed media style I think will add direct emphasis to the story! I will start posting the art as it progresses but here is a little taste of one of the 1000's of images I have been inspired by to write the book.

Follow me as my artistic journey progresses! I am excited and have already written the first 20 pages, and decided on the 14 short stories.  It is going to be an amazing project!
